March 2nd: Saint of the Day--St. Agnes of Bohemia

In every March 2, The Church celebrat Agnes of Bohemia, she was a royal born by right, She was d daughter *of King Ottokar (I) of Bohemia & Queen Constance of Bohemia, Agnes had no child but she was so humble and kind giving a meaning to life's of many who are close/knew her so well.

Agnes was given out to marriage @ the age of 3yrs as a royal birth to Duke of Silesia, but passed away 3yrs later. When Agnes grew up, she *decided to enter the *religious-life.

Letter Agnes refused a proposed-marriages with Henry III of England & King Henry VII of Germany, Also with a proposal from Frederick II, D Holy Roman Emperor. Agnes made a requested 2 Pope Gregory IX for help. D pope was advising and convinced- *Frederick magnanimously said that he could not be offended if Agnes preferred D *King of Heaven to him.

Agnes letter *built a hospital 4 d poor & a residence for D *friars, Agnes sponsored D construction of a Poor *Clare monastery in Prague. Agnes & other 7 #Noble-women *entered this monastery In 1236,. More 5 sisters was sent by St. Clare from San Damiano 2 join them, & wrote Agnes 4 letters apealing her on D beauty of her vocation & her duties as *abbess.

Agnes of Bohemia became known 4 mortification, obedience & prayer. *Papal-pressure forced her to accept her election as *abbess- the title she preferred was *senior sister.* Agnes of Bohemia position never stop her 4rom cooking for D other sisters & setling D clothes of lepers. D sisters found her kind but very *strict regarding D *observance of poverty; Agnes refused her *royal brother’s offer 2 set up an endowment for D monastery.
Agnes of Bohemia was canonized in 1989 and her Devotion in March 6, 1282 arose soon after her death.
